McKinstry | SIERR Building

Location: Spokane, WA

Square Footage: 44,000

Construction Type: Remodel/Restoration

Collaboration partner: McKinstry

Challenge

Constructed in 1907, the SIERR building originally served as an electric train shop and yards for the Inland Empire Railroad. After years of neglect our client purchased the building for its historical value and ideal location. The goal for this adaptive reuse/renovation was to transform one of the least efficient buildings in Spokane into one of the most efficient, which aligns with our client's corporate mission.

Solution

As part of the design team, Design Source was responsible for coordinating interior finishes meeting stringent LEED guidelines and client aesthetics. Additionally, we selected and specified furnishings for the reception area, common areas and private reception. The finished result is an impressive LEED Gold Certified building that optimizes workplace efficiencies and supports the McKinstry corporate brand.
