City Ramp | Restoration
Location: Spokane, WA
Square Footage: 95,000
Built in 1928 the City Ramp Garage was the first example of art deco architecture in the region. After over 8 decades of heavy use, vandalism and neglect, we were commissioned to develop the design program for its renovation back into a profitable and functioning parking structure.
Renovation included reinforcing the steel structure and recreating the ground level storefronts. Period appropriate materials and lighting fixtures have been added to create a new valet/waiting area and elevator lobby. The design solution also needed to accommodate the owner's desire to keep the property listed on the historic register. In order to achieve this, the interior walls, dropped ceiling and surface components were removed to expose the original materials which includes terracotta tile, terrazzo, and detailed concrete.
